Domodedovo airport explosion kills dozens

Moscow bomb attack worries the world

A bomb attack on Moscow’s Domodedovo airport has killed dozens and injured many more. Although the precise details may not be known for some time, the attack represents a nasty development because it underscores an unpleasant truth. Security threats in Russia have become an international problem. The choice of target, Russia’s busiest international airport, seems calculated to cause maximum economic disruption and create high-stress political fall-out at home and abroad. News of the bombing immediately knocked 2 percent off Russia’s MICEX stock exchange and 4 percent off the share price of national airline Aeroflot. The experience of previous bomb attacks suggests that the impact on financial markets will be temporary. Such incidents are, sadly, not new in Russia. Russia wins for FIFA world cup 2018 and Qatar for 2022

Russia and Qatar became the winners in the race to arrange world cup 2018 and 2022 respectively held on December 2, 2010. They could achieve the final recognition from FIFA to arrange the prestigious and pleasant event of the football. FIFA gave its ultimate recognition to new regions of the world to balance in  sharing the pleasure of world cup final. Soccer's governing body's executive committee voted for the two winning bids after a fierce lobbying campaign which saw world political leaders and top sports personalities gather in Zurich to press their case for one of the most prestigious and lucrative prizes in global sport.  Russia won the right to put on the 2018 World Cup, the first time it will have been staged in Eastern Europe after 10 editions in the western half of the continent. Qatar will stage the 2022 finals, a first both for the Middle East and for an Arab country. It will also be the smallest nation ever to host the World Cup with a population of less tha

APEC leaders pledges for free trade area at Yokohama summit

Leaders of the 21-member Asia-Pacific Co-operation (APEC) forum have pledged to establish  a regional free-trade area. The agreement was announced on Sunday at the end of a two-day summit held in Yokohama of Japan. The initiative would link the world's three biggest economies - the United States, Japan and China. However, deep differences remain - chiefly between the US and China - over trade imbalances and currency distortions. The USA aims to increase their exports to the region and considers China's cheap currency is a barrier to that goal. Chinese President Hu Jintao has said any change will only be made at Beijing's own pace. In their final declaration, APEC leaders reaffirmed their "unwavering commitment to achieving free and open trade and investment in the region". They also pledged to take "concrete steps toward realising a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific", but gave no timetable. The declaration - entitled Yokohama Vision - also rej
